The City of Dunn, North Carolina has a population of just over 10,000 and is known by many more people as a convenient stop while travelling along Interstate 95.  In the spring of 2011, the City and surrounding area were hit by a series of deadly tornadoes.  Immediately following the disaster, the City’s public safety staff was made acutely aware of the need for rapid response to emergencies and the importance of highly accurate GIS data.

Geographic Technologies Group (GTG) is pleased to announce new MapNimbus clients.  Lumberton, NC has implemented MapNimbus to track crime and sex offenders.  Missouri City, TX has implemented the technology for code enforcement cases.  MapNimbus users can quickly view posted activity in their area and receive notifications for events within a selected distance from a point of interest.  GTG’s president Curt Hinton points out, “Hosting GIS data in the cloud has been a positive advancement for our clients.  The ease of use of MapNimbus has allowed local governments to provide online GIS services that are a step ahead of most sites.  The ability to auto-notify interested citizens is critical and is becoming expected by the computer savvy citizen.”

Geographic Technologies Group® (GTG®) was contracted by the Town of Wilton, Connecticut to design, develop, and deploy an Esri enterprise GIS solution.  GTG compiled and reviewed existing GIS data and developed a comprehensive database design to best suit the Town’s GIS needs.  GTG then deployed the Esri ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE enterprise GIS solutions.  The Town’s existing ArcGIS desktops were then upgraded to Version 10 to be compatible with the new server environment.  Town staff were trained how to access the newly designed geodatabase and how to perform basic administration of the server environment.
